Established in 1963 to oversee the growth of Yoshinkan Aikido in the Midwestern
region, the
MYAA has evolved into much more than just one of the oldest Aikido
Associations
of any style in all the Americas. The Association has become an
Internationally connected brother and sisterhood of Yoshinkan Aikido practitioners
headquartered in the city of Chicago.

The
MYAA is dedicated to the practice and teaching of Yoshinkan Aikido as handed
down by Soke Gozo Shioda and Kiyoyuki Terada Hanshi. The Association serves as
an official representative of the Aikido Yoshinkan Foundation of Japan and is
authorized to promote Yoshinkan Aikido via the International Yoshinkan Aikido
Federation (IYAF). All Association dojos and instructors are registered with the IYAF
in Japan.

The Association is also a member of the
Aikido Yoshinkan Yoseikai organization
headed by Amos Lee Parker Shihan. Parker Shihan is the senior most non-Japanese
Yoshinkan practitioner in the world and is currently based out of Houston, Texas.

The MYAA has member dojos located in Chicago, the greater Chicago area and
Indiana. The Midwest Yoshinkai Aikido Association is a not for profit, educational
corporation that does not discriminate for any reason! Aikido is for all, irrespective of
age, sex, race, religion or culture.
